Welcome to Chimpanzees
Year 2
Class teacher: Miss Parsons
PPA Teacher: Miss Killah
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Collins
Term 5 and Term 6
Muck, Mess and Mixtures
Our new topic for this half term is ‘Muck, Mess and Mixtures’ and as the title suggests, we are certainly going to get messy! The unit is based on Roald Dahl’s 'The Twits' and ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ which the children will be reading in class. We will be doing lots of lovely artwork and some super science too!
Term 3 and Term 4
Go Wild!
Our theme for Term 3 and 4 is Go Wild! We will have a focus on History and will learn about Amelia Earhart, Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong and their adventures and discoveries. The children will learn to ask questions and develop their understanding of significant individuals and historical events. Linked to our Great Explorer topic and the Geography curriculum, the children will learn compass directions (North, South, East and West) and use locational and directional language. They will describe the location of features and routes on a map.
During Term 4, we will be finding out how plants need water, light and suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy.
Term 2
Chimpanzees and Dolphins will be reading and basing their English work around the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. Chimpanzees will then be developing their Geographical skills as they will be looking at all the places Stanley visited on his adventures. Where possible, we will be continuing with our whole school theme of 'Once upon a time'.
Term 1
Once upon a time
Our first topic is Once upon a time. We will be reading and listening to a range of fairy tales. We will then become authors and write our own fairy tales with a twist.
