Music Lessons at Staverton

Music Lessons at Staverton

In addition to the music lesson that the pupils have as part of the curriculum the school provides opportunities for pupils to undertake musical instrument tuition.

We currently offer guitar (acoustic and electric), keyboard, piano, violin, and brass lessons.

Guitar lessons with Ben Jones.

We are lucky at Staverton School to have a very skilled and experienced guitar teacher. He lives locally and is able to provide tuition in acoustic guitar, electric guitar and ukulele.

About Ben: Ben has been teaching the guitar both privately and in schools for over 10 years. He also plays the guitar in a functions/party/tribute band called The Zoots. The band has taken him all over the world playing on both cruise ships and in grand hotels.

Cost of lessons:

Shared 20 minute lesson- £6.00 per lesson

Single 20 minute lesson- £10.00 per lesson

Children will need to provide their own guitar. Ben recommends these guitars:

Stagg C510 ½ size Classical guitar approx. £50.00

Stagg S300 ¾ size electric guitar approx. £70.00

Piano, Keyboard and Music Theory Tuition

I have been working at Staverton Primary for several years and am very encouraged by a growing list of enthusiastic pupils. I am a well qualified and experienced Music Teacher working for the last 8 years with Wiltshire Music Service and now an Associate of Wiltshire Music Connect. Each lesson is tailored for each individual pupil's learning and aspirations. Although exams are encouraged by internationally recognised boards such as The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music and Trinity College London (including Rock and Pop) these are not the only routes. Pupils enjoyment and sense of progress and achievement is most important.

There are 34 lessons per year, divided into 3 sessions, with fees for each session payable in advance.  If you wish your child to stop having lessons then you will need to let me know at least one month, ideally a term, in advance.

I aim to provide 34 lessons for the year and for 2017-2018 (subject to confirmation with the school) the weeks are as follows:-

Week beginning 11/09 for 6 weeks          Week beginning 30/10 for 7 weeks

Week beginning 08/01 for 5 weeks          Week beginning 19/02 for 6 weeks

Week beginning 16/04 for 5 weeks          Week beginning 04/06 for 5 weeks

The week of 18th December and 9th July are optional for any catch up lessons or for extra lessons on request by pupils.

Lesson charges are £15.50 per half hour, £10.50 for 20 minutes, £7.75 for 15 minutes or £6.50 for shared 20 minute lesson. Fees not paid before or by the first lesson will be subject to a late payment levy. Invoices will be issued in advance of the start of terms 1, 3 & 5 with at least 1 week's notice.

Every  effort to reschedule lessons will be made but due to a full timetable this may not always be possible. Lessons cancelled by myself will be rescheduled or reimbursed in full.
