Foundation Stage Presentation to Parents

Hello Penguins!

I am sure your grown ups have told you the news that sadly, school will be closed for a little while longer. But do not worry, Miss Butterfield and Mrs Plumpton will be keeping you busy and talking to you lots over the next few days and weeks! Do keep checking the class page for updates (we will be posting on the 'Home Learning' tab above) for this week. We have got lots of exciting things planned for you to do at home! We are already missing your smiley faces and can't wait to hear from you very soon. Stay safe Penguins, and keep smilingsmiley

William Morris

We have been looking at the artist William Morris who designed wallpaper with lots of floral repeating patterns. The children have learned how to draw flowers and leaves along with some simple patterns. They then produced their own drawings inspired by William Morris to make a class wallpaper. Take a look at Penguins' beautiful drawings!

We have had lots of fun exploring our topic 'On the Farm' this term. We have learned so much about farm animals including where they live, how to look after them and the different sounds they make. We have also learned all about how crops are harvested and made into food as well as all the jobs farmers have to do on their farms.

Look at our amazing poppy art for Remembrance Day!

Term 2

Welcome back Penguins! I hope you have all enjoyed the half term break and are ready for another exciting term. This term we will be exploring the topic 'On the Farm'. We will be learning about different farm animals, life cycles as well as jobs that farmers have to do on their farm. Our story this term is 'A Squash and a Squeeze' by Julia Donaldson. We will be looking at rhyming and writing thought bubbles as well as writing a class poem about Autumn. Keep checking Tapestry and this page for more updates and photos of our amazing learning! smiley

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

For the past 3 weeks we have been exploring Michael Rosen's well known text 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Have a look at some of our amazing work and the fun activities we got up to! We even went on our very own bear hunt!

We have started our first topic which is 'Explorers'. The children will be learning about Captain Robert Scott's expedition to the South Pole as well as the first moon landing. They are already enjoying our explorer role play area! You can find out more about our topic from the knowledge organiser located in the tab above. Don't forget to keep checking here for updates as well as Tapestry!

The children have loved exploring the indoor and outdoor provision and have settled in so well!

For the first 2 weeks we will be getting to know your children through exploring the topic 'All About Me'. The children will be carrying out lots of activities surrounding this theme. We will also be familiarising ourselves with the the classroom and the school along with learning the rules and routines.  Please see the curriculum letter in the tab above for more detail on the different areas of learning for the term. Penguins, we can't wait to see your smiley faces again on Monday!
