Staverton C.E. Primary School
School Lane, Staverton, Trowbridge, Wiltshire,
Lunchtime is an extremely important part of the day, as is being recognised through much recent media and government attention. At Staverton children may bring their own packed lunch or sign up for one of our excellent, healthy meals. Our school meal provider is ‘ Dolce‘ who use a computerised ordering and payment system called Live Kitchen to ensure our children receive the meals they want and to also provide a cashless payment option for parents. The Live Kitchen system is a huge hit with the children, it also allows parents to go online and order meals from home, view recipes and ingredient information.
The cost of a school dinner is £2.20 per day (£11.00 per week).Unless you are F/S, KS1 or entitled to free school meals.
Pre- Ordering Children select their chosen meal on the interactive whiteboard before registration or at home. Vegetarian options are clearly displayed on a green button.
Lunchtime – Children select their name on the red touch screen at the serving hatch. Their meal choice is displayed to the cook, as well as any dietary needs.
Paying by Direct Debit – Parents can pay for school lunches via direct debit which saves time at home as well as in the school office. Parents who sign up for direct debit will receive regular statements from Dolce informing them of the choices their child make each day. Statements are sent out on a four weekly basis and Dolce gives two weeks notice before amounts are collected.
Pre-Ordering on Line
Parents can also pre-order their child(rens) meals online. This facility allows parents to pre-order for up to a term at a time. Paying by direct debit means you will automatically be emailed a username and password for logging on to the pre-ordering facility. Parents who wish to pre-order online but do not wish to pay by direct debit need to provide the school office with an e-mail address which can then be sent to Dolce to create their own log on.
In line with requirements, Dolce ensures that allergen information is available for parents when selecting their child’s meal on-line. Alternatively, Dolce’s area manager and the school catering team are on hand to answer any queries or requests for further information about their recipes.
As part of the Governments infant free school meals scheme, the school has to provide children in Reception and Key Stage One with a hot meal. The school does not have to provide a basic packed lunch for trips, unless you are in receipt of free school meals and have applied through Wiltshire County Council. If, you are unsure whether you are entitled to free school meals please ask in the school office.
At Staverton we know how important it is that children have a healthy, balanced lunch (based on the eatwell plate). Our school dinners are a very healthy choice and the best way of ensuring your child has a good balanced meal but we know some families prefer their child to have a packed lunch so we try to help you plan a fantatstic lunchbox which your child will enjoy and is healthy.
Here are some good websites that give good advice on what to put in a healthy lunchbox:
Also, packing a waste free lunch box could save you a LOT of money. This website is American but the ideas work on this side of the Atlantic as well:
