We are delighted to share the findings of our most recent Ofsted inspection, carried out on 10 and 11 December 2024. Following a thorough two-day inspection, Staverton was rated GOOD across every core area – the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management – with our Early Years provision rated OUTSTANDING.
Inspectors spent time in classrooms, spoke with pupils, staff, governors and parents, and carried out in-depth reviews of our Reading, Maths and History curriculums. They found a school where pupils are proud, calm, and genuinely known as individuals – and confirmed that our arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

"In Reception, exceptionally well-designed activities are used to develop children's views of the world. The adults continually model high-quality speech and language, so that children quickly develop their communication skills. Key findings
We are very proud of the progress we've made, and Ofsted's findings reflect that – while also giving us clear direction on where we go next.
Using what we learn from pupil assessment to keep refining our curriculum is one of our next priorities. Here are some example quotes from our latest report:
- Adults are highly skilled at supporting early readers. Pupils read books that match the sounds that they know so that they increase their accuracy and fluency
- Each subject has set out the important knowledge and vocabulary that pupils should learn
- Pupils are confident to talk about their learning. For example, explaining the skills they have learned in physical education to help keep themselves healthy
- The school swiftly identifies pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. This includes a very comprehensive review of children's individual learning needs while in Reception
- Pupils have a strong sense of what makes relationships healthy. They understand how to be a good friend and be respectful of others
- From Reception, children learn about how to work with others collaboratively, reinforcing the community feel of the school
- Pupils enjoy the range of clubs offered, participating in activities such as craft club and golf
- Children show particularly high levels of independence and resilience with their learning
SIAMS
As a Church of England School, the school is also inspected regularly by SIAMS. The inspection findings indicate that Staverton Church of England Primary is living up to its foundation as a Church school.
Some of the recognised strengths from our recent inspection include:
- The vision enthuses leaders to make bold decisions to meet the diverse needs of all pupils. Dedicated spaces and new approaches nurture pupils’ social and emotional needs so they can flourish
- The vision is lived out in this community through the welcome it offers to all. It shapes trusting relationships, where all are valued and treat one another with a high degree of dignity and respect
- Leaders have created a dedicated and enthusiastic staff team, who see their role as living out the vision. They feel valued and play a major role in improvements, growing their talent
"The vision is now the 'heartbeat' of this thriving school. Pupils talk in depth about the Parable of the Mustard Seed. They explain how, like them, they grow, fulfil their potential and then reach out to others."

Results
The school has statutory results for reading, writing, phonics and maths. These take place at the end of KS1 and KS2. The phonics screening test takes place at the end of year 1. Year 4 undertake the National Multiplication Check in the Summer Term. Below are our most recent results from statutory assessments, compared to how schools performed nationally.

The Multiplication Check is taken by Year 4 pupils in the summer term and is out of a possible 25. While there is no official pass mark, national data is collected for those achieving 25. As a school, we also collect data for those achieving 20 marks or higher (80%).Subscript
