Our safeguarding team
What safeguarding means
Safeguarding is about far more than responding when something has already gone wrong. At Staverton, it means:
- Providing help and support to meet a child's needs as soon as a problem emerges
- Protecting children from harm, whether that happens at home, at school, or online
- Preventing anything that could impair a child's mental or physical health and development
- Making sure every child grows up in safe, caring circumstances
If you have a concern
If you're ever worried about a child – whether it's your own child or another child you know – please tell us. You don't need to be certain something is wrong; if something doesn't feel right, we'd always rather hear from you.
Please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead or one of our Deputy DSLs using the details above. Any concern you raise will be treated sensitively, and information is only ever shared with those who genuinely need to know, in the best interests of the child.
If you believe a child is at immediate risk of significant harm or injury, please call the police on 999.

Keeping children safe online
Online safety is built into everything we do – from our filtered internet access, to what children are taught in the classroom, to how we talk with parents about what your child is doing online and who they may be interacting with. We want you to feel confident about your child's safety online, both at school and at home.

Training and keeping current
All staff receive safeguarding training three times a year, alongside regular updates as new guidance emerges. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy DSLs undertake additional, more advanced training, refreshed at least every two years. Governors also receive safeguarding training at induction, updated at least every three years.
Our safeguarding policy is reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation or guidance changes – so our approach always reflects the most current national and local safeguarding requirements.
