Geography at Staverton develops children's understanding, experience and curiosity of the wider world.

Our approach

Understanding our world

‍Teaching equips pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources, and natural and human environments, alongside a deep understanding of the Earth's key physical and human processes.

Skills that connect and explain

‍Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills give children the framework to explain how the Earth's features at different scales are shaped, interconnected, and change over time.

Geographical language

‍Children learn and use technical geographical terminology in appropriate contexts, making links between what they study and the world around them.

Our Geography knowledge progression

Geographical understanding builds carefully as children move through the school, across four connected strands: Locational Knowledge, Place Knowledge, Human and Physical Geography, and Geographical Skills and Fieldwork.
