Our staff

Behind every child who flourishes at Staverton is a team of staff who know them, believe in them, and turn up every day determined to help them grow.

Our staff team brings together teachers, teaching assistants, support staff and leaders who share one thing in common: a genuine commitment to seeing every child known, valued and encouraged to thrive.

We're proud of the relationships our staff build – with children, with each other, and with our wider school family. It's these relationships, as much as any curriculum or classroom, that make Staverton feel like the community it is.

Staff development

We believe that a school can only be as good as the people within it, which is why staff development isn't an afterthought at Staverton – it's central to how we improve, term after term and year after year.

Every member of staff has access to ongoing professional development, tailored to where they are in their career and where they want to go next. For colleagues early in their teaching journey, that means structured mentoring and support through their induction years; for experienced staff, it means opportunities to specialise, lead, and take on new challenges within the school. Wherever someone sits on that journey, we invest real time and resource in helping them get better at what they do.

This commitment isn't just about training courses – it's built into the culture of the school. Staff learn from each other through regular collaboration, shared planning, and honest feedback, all underpinned by the same values we ask of our children: courage to try new approaches, respect for one another's expertise, and trust in a team that's genuinely working together rather than in isolation.

We also recognise that staff wellbeing and professional growth go hand in hand. A supported, valued team is one that can bring its best to the classroom – so alongside development opportunities, we're committed to working practices that respect staff time and wellbeing, not just their performance.

Ultimately, our commitment to staff development reflects the same vision that shapes everything else at Staverton: a life-giving tree, where every member of our community – child and adult alike – has room to grow.
