Modern foreign languages
At Staverton, we help children respond to speakers of French, building a greater understanding of French-speaking communities – their cultural traditions and aspects of daily life.
Our approach
Children use their knowledge of French sounds and vocabulary, across a range of topics, to understand and respond creatively to spoken and written language. We use the Language Angels scheme of work to support our delivery of the French curriculum.
Building confidence
Children use their knowledge of grammatical structures to write at varying length and speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity.
Songs, rhymes and vocabulary
Children explore the patterns and sounds of language through songs and rhymes, and broaden their vocabulary and their ability to understand new words.
