At Staverton, we help children respond to speakers of French, building a greater understanding of French-speaking communities – their cultural traditions and aspects of daily life.
Our approach
Understanding language
Children use their knowledge of phonology and vocabulary across a range of topics to understand and respond creatively to spoken and written French.
Building confidence
Children use their knowledge of grammatical structures to write at varying length and speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity.
Songs and rhymes
Children explore the patterns and sounds of language through songs and rhymes.
Growing vocabulary
Children broaden their vocabulary and develop their ability to understand new words across a range of topics.

We use the Language Angels scheme of work to support our delivery of the French curriculum.
