Nestlings is where your child's Staverton journey begins – a warm, nurturing space where they'll build friendships, discover a love of stories, and grow in confidence, right through to their first day in Reception.
Nestlings children can join our wrap-around care alongside school-age children, from as early as 7:45am through to 5:15pm – giving working families flexible, continuous care delivered by the same trusted team throughout the day.
Every member of our Nestlings team is appropriately qualified and DBS-checked, and follows the same safeguarding standards as the rest of Staverton – so your child is cared for by people who know them, in a setting that takes their safety as seriously as their learning.
Storytelling and books are woven into everyday life at Nestlings. From regular library visits to daily story time, we want every child to fall in love with books long before they can read them for themselves.
Children learn best when they're curious, active, and having fun. Our play-based approach lets children explore, choose, and lead their own learning, with our team on hand to guide, extend, and join in.
We take time to build genuine relationships with every child, so they feel safe, known, and confident enough to be themselves. A strong sense of belonging is the foundation everything else is built on.
Nestlings isn't separate from Staverton – it's the start of it. Children move into our Reception class already familiar with our staff, our building, and our values, making that first step into "big school" feel natural rather than daunting.

Nestlings shares the same values as the rest of Staverton School: Courage, Kindness, Respect, Forgiveness, Trust, and Hope. These aren't just words on a wall – they shape how our team speaks to children, how children are encouraged to treat one another, and how we build a community where every family feels welcome from their very first visit.
Living these values out from age 2 means children arrive in Reception already familiar with the language and spirit of Staverton life, rather than encountering it for the first time on their first day of school.

At Nestlings, we believe young children learn best when they're an active participant in their own learning, not a passive recipient of it. Our child-centred, play-based approach follows each child's interests and curiosity, giving them the freedom to explore, make choices, and take the lead – with our team gently guiding, extending, and joining in along the way.
We're just as committed to building independence as we are to academic foundations. Children are encouraged to try things for themselves, make their own decisions, and problem-solve – building the confidence and resilience that will serve them well throughout their time at Staverton and beyond.
We're proud to be a welcoming, inclusive community where every family feels they belong, regardless of background or circumstance. It's this sense of belonging, combined with genuinely exciting, hands-on learning, that means children arrive at Nestlings each day happy and excited to be there.
