At Staverton, we believe every child is a natural artist. Through Art, children explore ideas, techniques and materials to express themselves, respond to the world around them, and develop a lifelong appreciation for creativity in all its forms.

Our approach

Knowledge of artists and techniques

‍Pupils are equipped with knowledge of a variety of artists, craft makers and designers – knowledge they use to create their own outcomes, exploring and recording ideas through a range of media.

Annual projects

‍Every year, children complete projects in drawing, painting and sculpture, focusing on techniques including line, shape, colour, space and texture. Children create art galleries to share their work with the wider school community.

Art week

‍Children take part in an Art Week each year, creating a range of artwork based on a chosen theme or topic.

Visiting artists

‍Staverton regularly welcomes inspirational artists into school to create artwork, run workshops, and hold showcases.
